John Williams Collegiate Scholarship
Phi Beta Sigma, Incorporated, Iota Mu Sigma Chapter is pleased to announce the John Williams Memorial Collegiate Scholarship. The John Williams Memorial Collegiate Scholarship will be presented to eligible financial members of Phi Beta Sigma that attend the University of Texas at Arlington and Tarleton State University.
Phi Beta Sigma, Inc. was founded on January 9, 1914 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The Founding Fathers A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse and Charles I. Brown adopted three principles to guide Sigma:
Brotherhood, Scholarship and Service. The fraternity now consists of men who are undergraduate and graduate students, seeking to positively impact the community and improve the lives of others. The fraternity members continue to live by its motto, “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity”.
Eligibility Criteria

High School male graduating senior.

Graduating Male senior with a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities.

Minimum GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or converted equivalent for 5.0 or 6.0 scales) and plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college in the Fall of 2024.

Must be a resident of Tarrant county.

Must be applying to a college with a Fall matriculation date.

All entries must be postmarked no later than Tuesday May 14, 2024.

Available Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship each is available for a Financial Member of Phi Beta Sigma Chapters at the University of Texas at Arlington and Tarleton State University.
Program Guidelines & Priorities

Be currently admitted and attending the University of Texas at Arlington or Tarleton State University

Must be a financial member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. in Good Standing

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.75

Must submit an official transcript (Traditional or Electronic) with the school seal and an authorized official’s signature.

Must submit the essay section of the application.

Must submit a completely executed and signed Sigma Scholarship applications (original or electronic acceptable)
